History
McDermott Consulting Inc. is an independent, research and management consulting company established in January 1993 within the Province of Alberta. Since its inception the firm has undertaken well over 120 projects in the area of human services and health. The firm is registered to provide services in Alberta, British Columbia, the NWT and the Yukon.
Services
At McDermott Consulting, we have expertise in many areas of human services management consulting, across a wide age spectrum and across the service spectrum including medical care, mental health, continuing care, child welfare, disability and public/population health.
The services and skills of the firm generally fall within the four broad categories of analysis, facilitation, planning and design.
The firm specializes in problem solving, analysing literature and best practice information and gathering input from a wide and often disparate group of individuals, agencies or other groups and presenting a concise summary and recommendations for future action or direction.
Team
Irene founded the firm in 1993, bringing with her some 15 years of experience within the public sector. In her consulting role she completed over 120 diverse projects. Irene is noted for her skills at listening to and working with various groups, ranging from people who use services to those who design and govern them. She is successful in bringing conflicting concerns and needs together to a common ground. Excellent problems solving and analytical skills are evident in the clearly articulated reports prepared for the firm’s clients.
John has 38 years’ experience working in the human services field. Prior to joining McDermott Consulting in 2008 John spent 30 years in the Alberta Public Service working in senior and executive management roles in the area of child and family services, with specific emphasis on all major aspects of Child Welfare policy and practice, as well as supports for children with disabilities and issues with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. John brings his extensive knowledge in his areas of expertise, along with his level-headed and thoughtful approach, to every project he undertakes.
